    Abstract
The porosity and tortuosity of adsorbed particles were calculated using coal-based activated carbon as the research object. Adsorption characteristic curves of porous carbon materials under different pore size conditions were established using the adsorption potential theory. Quantitative characterization of the relationship between pore structure and adsorbed gas capacity of porous carbon materials by revealing their gas adsorption properties. The experimental results show that the adsorption potential is up to 14901 J/mol and shows a decreasing trend with increasing pressure. The variation of adsorption potential and adsorption space with pressure was modeled. The correlation coefficient between adsorption space and pressure under different pore conditions reaches more than 0.95. Dynamic adsorption experiments showed that the porous carbon materials were excellent at separating methane-containing gas mixtures. There was a positive correlation between the separation efficiency and the value of the isothermal adsorption parameter b. The adsorption rate constants ranged from 0.93 to 3.03 min-1. The rapid movement of the mass transfer zone results in a faster rate of methane penetration. The correlation coefficient between adsorbed particle pore distance and adsorption rate was -0.99. The tortuosity of the modified adsorbent particles was reduced by a maximum of 12.4%, increasing the utilization of the bed.
